Safeguarding Canada's Wildlife — Each year 27,000 species are lost forever from the planet. Yet many Canadian provinces still lack endangered species legislation and the recently enacted federal law seems unlikely to provide much help to Canada's more than 1, 000 species at risk. As part of our mandate to safeguard biodiversity, the Wilderness Committee is championing the fight to save some of Canada's most endangered species including the Northern spotted owl, mountain and woodland caribou, pacific salmon, and both coastal and rocky mountain grizzly bears. ->more


Defending Public Lands — Parks and protected areas are vital to the functioning of a healthy environment, providing invaluable ecosystem services such as clean air, fresh water and climate regulation. ->more


Keeping the Pacific Coast Wild — Our western coast is under threat from many sources, from oil and gas exploration to salmon farming to toxins such as PBDE's that are poisoning our Orcas. Increasing encroachment of marine habitat has caused the Wilderness Committee to step up to the plate and stand up for our Pacific coast. ->more
